Photo IDs - How good are we? - a game

Deer River, MN(Zone 3b)

Hi All,

I'm "stealing" this idea from Roni because I think it's such a good one! Lots of folks come to this forum looking for IDs for their unknown irises, and lots of us like to try to help them out by offering possible name matches. So let's see just how good we are at this sort of thing!

I will post pics of six different registered irises to this thread. Heck, I'll even tell you which classification each one falls under. But I won't tell you their names--at least not until Sunday night. Until then, pretend that these are unknown irises I have posted to request possible IDs.

Come on, everybody. Tell me who these irises are. Let's see just how good we REALLY are at photo IDs!

Iris #1 is a tall bearded.

Last but not least is #6, a border bearded.

Yorkshire,

Really difficult to decide which of the blues or pinks but I have settled for:-

#1 Blenheim Royal or Pledge Allegiance
#2 Cherub's smile
#3 Dawn of Change
#4 Amazon Princess or Double Byte
#5 Agatha Christie
#6 Cranapple

Terri

Here are my guesses:

#1 Blenheim Royal
#2 Cherub's Smile
#3 Dawn of Change
#4 Double Byte
#5 Agatha Christie
#6 Red Rooster

Patricia

Ok...when do we get the answers and the next round? There were lots of names presented and I looked at many of them, wow there are alot of look alikes available, no wonder it's hard to id from photos online.

Patience, Roni. I'll post the answers around 9:00 CST tonight to give the forum slow pokes a chance to play if they want to.

Sorry I'm a little late with the promised IDs. Barn chores take precedence, I'm afraid. Anyhow ...

Patricia (patrob) is remarkably and impressively correct on all six IDs! The irises are:

#1 Blenheim Royal
#2 Cherub's Smile
#3 Dawn of Change
#4 Double Byte
#5 Agatha Christie
#6 Red Rooster

Terri, you had most of them, as well. Well done, both of you!

If you want to play again, I'm going to make the next set a bit more challenging. You guys up for it?

Laurie

Yorkshire,

Oh you bet! Thanks for such an amusing challenge Laurie. Incidentally, I **spotted** my mistakes a few minutes after making my post, dithered a bit about editing it and then decided to leave it as it was :) I'll be more vigilant next time, LOL.
Congratulations to Patricia for her 6 out of 6.
I hadn't realised how many look alikes there are, so many are very similar. It makes me appreciate the hybridisers even more, their work is far from easy.
Looking forward to the next round.

Good job Patricia!
