New Clematis 'Midnight Showers'

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

It's not on the Clematis list. I found it at a nursery here in Tulsa. The only info it has on the tag is prune moderate, 8-10', 6-8" burgundy black velvet flowers. I assume that's a group 2. Here's a pic.

Debbie..very pretty..what you have there is typically called "Warsaw Nike"...it's a pruning group 3 which should be hard pruned in late winter/early Spring..you'll enjoy that clematis...well done...you seem to be finding all the bargains..you go girl!!...Jeanne

Warsaw Nike??? Debbie at SilverStar doesn't like that one. Says it's a wilter. Thanks for the info Jeanne!!

Debbie..what will wilt for some people doesn't neccessarily wilt for another!!..Pruning Type 2s are typical wilters but outgrow that after their 3rd year..and yours is a Pruning group 3.....I wouldn't worry ..alot of people grow that one and love it...Jeanne

Debbie,

What a rich, beautiful color. I was admiring the thumbnail and had to open this thread to see more. When the price is right, I throw caution to the wind, ignore what anyone else tells me and give it a whirl . . . you never know! I fell in love with daphne carol mackii and planted it before anyone told me that daphnes are notorious for dropping dead for little apparent reason. Seven years later I am enjoying the best season of bloom ever, and the most heavenly fragrance on my daphnes. Enjoy!

Colleen
