I saw the above in a local nursery. I'm in zone 3 so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't survive my winters. I'm considering growing it in a pot but would like to know:
Has anyone had this one flower for them in a pot?
What type of soil should I put in its pot?
TIA for any and all suggestions. :)
Akebia quinata.
I HAD Akebia quinata growing on the Northside of my house. The vine grows very big & very tall and I don't think that it would do well in a container. It grew so large that I was afraid that it was going to pull my gutters down. I finally got rid of that bad boy!
Thanks Shirley!
I saw this one blooming at the coast so it really tempted me. Between what you've pointed out above and what is noted in the PlantFiles I'll pass on it.
I have runners of this thing all over my beds..And my beds cover a lot of territory..I am forever pulling..And yet, the blooms are very pretty..It is huge..I have runners as far as 50 feet away from the main plant.May do differently in your zone.. It doesn't even get killed back here.
