Chinese species iris is blooming for the first time.

So excited. I missed the very first bloom last week of I. henryi that I bought in an iris society auction 2 years ago. Looked like the only bloom. But today there was another open in the rain!

Here's my hand for scale. I guess you can see why I missed the first one!

I didn't know any iris was so tiny. What a treasure!

That is a neat collection! I'd be afraid of weeding them out. Good thing you have labels.

Absolutely DARLING! I love the delicate look and size.

Another wonderful tiny species iris opened today in the sunshine. This is i. odaesanensis.

Where did you find such beauties? I had seen a miniture yellow offered at Herons wood but at the time I was paying two mortgages and had no money for plants (which is why I am going a bit wild with the mailorders now, I have nearly 10 years of deprivation to make up for).

I got all of them at iris society auctions. I started this mess loving beardless irises no matter what size-love them all.
