Can clematis be grown up thru wisteria?
Thanks,

Clematis with wisteria
Personally, I would not. Wisteria is can be too agressive and depending on which Clematis you choose, some can be huge!
What about up the trunk of a hemlock tree? The tree is limbed up pretty high.
Also I'm wondering about up thru a crab apple tree.

Yes. Which Clematis did you have in mind? Clematis would look charming and your Hemlock may even "flower" in mid-to-late Summer/early Fall!
I'm not sure going up the hemlock. The hemlock sits in a bed that is about to become my daylily bed. So it'll have a lot of different colors in it. Any suggestions?
The crab apple is in the middle of a garden that has predominantly pale to medium yellow (as in not bright) flowers, some blues, a gorgeous white rose, a pink rose that may get moved elsewhere, and some pink/blue hydrangea. The wisteria is in that area as well, which is why I thought about planting the clematis thru the wisteria. The wisteria is a purple one. So I think any clematis going thru that crab apple needs to be a pastel. I'm trying to keep that garden mainly blue/purple and yellow with only a teeny bit of white and pink thrown in just because it's already there.

You never can go wrong with white. It just sort of blends in with the rest of the garden. Since Hemlocks grow pretty tall (don't know the exact height), I would pick a white or pale pink Montana. They grow quickly and can reach 25-30ft tall.
How tall is your Crab Apple tree? Maybe 10-15ft tall? Lots of pale colored Clematis, but don't forget that your Crab Apple is probably situated in full sun. A pale colored Clematis' color probably would get bleached out. I only use paler colors in semi-shady areas of my garden. I probably would go with either a deeper blue or purple Clematis, which would look stunning. It's totally up to you!
The hemlock is really tall. But I don't want to put white there. I'll look for that pink one you mention. I need something that gets tall!
The crab apple is taller than 15' but I don't know how much. It's not in as much sun as you might think, mainly as I don't get all that much sun. We're surrounded by extremely tall cedars and firs that block out a lot of sun. So we get sporadic sun throughout the day. One the crab apple leafs out, nothing below it gets much sun.
I tend to like the deep shades of clematis. I'm sure there are a lot that would look good in the crab apple.
