Canna's from seed?

I know that canna's won't come true from seed, but I got some in a trade, and would love to try them. Does anyone have tips on how to start them? Any and all advice would be appreciated!

nick the seeds with a file till you see white, soak overnight and plant just covered, will come up quick, bottom heat is best too till they are up.(about a week if nicked)

almost all will bloom the first year..any that don't aren't usually worth keeping.Good hybrids bloom quickly.

I'm glad I saw this thread. I just planted some dwarf cannas and didn't nick the seeds. It's been a bout a week since I put them in. Maybe I'll take a close look at them and if they haven't started I'll go back and do that.
