I have some bald spots in my front garden that I'd like to fill in with annuals. The soil is amended clay (still heavy and wet/hard though, even though I've tilled in lots of compost), waterlogged at one end, with full sun (southwest exposure), zone 6a. Are there any annuals that might grow there or should I just give up and resort to pots?
Thanks! :)

Annuals for clay?
I have found that marigolds, petunias, and madagascar periwinkle will grow for me almost anywhere.
