A vine that will take reflected heat

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

I want to cover a metal shed. I live in Phoenix. It gets very hot here in summer. I know cat claw will tolerate this but I have lots of that already. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi Mary, Has anyone suggested Queen's Wreath, Antigonon leptopus? It can really take the high temps. And it has such a dainty look while being wildly prolific.

Hi Judy, Yes, it looks like Queens Wreath is the cat's meow for this application. I talked to someone today about covering the shed and she suggested it also. Thanks for confirming. JoAnn told me the plant is usually not available till June - that gives me time to recover from all my spring plantings!

Thanks again for the suggestion.

I believe mascagnia macroptera is an "approved xeriscape" vine for Arizona...
They are great vines, and do not stick themselves everywhere, and invade like cat's claw...

My coral vine doesn't seem to like as much sun as the mascagnia...

Bouganvilla is another heat lover, but has thorns.

Tjhere's an orange trumpet vine here .. on a metal roof... as it grows it cuts off the sun to the hot metal.. making it cooler and more able to grow over it .. like making it's own prefered climate... Gordon
