We love the potatoes we eat at every meal when we visit Ireland, but can't find any at home that taste even close to the ones in Ireland. Does anyone know a source of Red Rooster or other Irish potato?
I'l love to grow some in our garden.
Thanks
Roni
Red Rooster of other Irish potato
It might be that the ones you're getting in the bonny isle are fresher than the grocery ones here, if that makes any sense. There are many reds you could grow in your garden that would taste much, much better than storebought ones.
I buy seed potatoes from organic Wood Prairie Farm (www.woodprairie.com)... the Carola (creamy yellow) I grew last year was praised by everyone who tasted it as the best potato they'd ever had. You can buy seed potatoes from them, or just big bags of potatoes to eat. Several red dry varieties.
Ronniger's is also excellent: www.ronnigers.com. They carry Irish Cobbler, Kerr's Pink (this may be closest to Red Rooster), Maris Piper, and Pink Wink.
Good luck to you...
