Hi everyone, I have some Pampas Grass on my swale and was wondering if putting pine straw around them would do any harm. I think the pine straw is acidic and I don't know if it will harm the Pampas Grass. Any help would be appreciated........Thanks!

Pampas grass is one tough persistant plant. Folks here have it in deep pine straw and it trucks along nicely. Some kids set a clump afire a couple of winters ago, burned to the ground, came out in the spring with a vengance.

I want the pine straw around the pampas grass to keep the moisture in and the weeds out. I have them planted on a grassed area, and the grass will grow right up to the bottom of the plant. The other pampas I have is on another area of my yard, with pine bark under it.
