suggestions for north facing wall

Ormond Beach, FL(Zone 9a)

I would love some suggestions for a north facing wall. Gets plenty of light but not direct sun. I would like something that flowers.

There are a lot of Clematis that would do well in that type of light. Chaulk Hills has a page for north facing walls.

How about a climbing hydrangea?

Don't they take a long time to bloom, like 5 years?

I'd like to try the clematis, but have never had very good luck with them. I've never tried the climing hydrangea but if it really takes that long to bloom I'm not that patient. Maybe I'll try the clematis again.

Good soil prep is important. Mine seem to like a mixture of garden soil and peat moss. I fertilize with regular rose food. If you are a bit more specific about the problem, Shirley can probably give you some advice. It does get awfully warm where you are. Maybe in the shade, a clematis would do better.

Yes it gets pretty hot. I'm in Florida, today it was 87 degrees. I did but a clematis to try.
