I don't remember who or which forum it was on (but I do remember it was here on Dave's Garden) that someone recommended Greased Lightning for cleaning the range hood.

That stuff is a miracle cleaner. My range hood and filter look as good as new.

I just want to send GREAT BIG THANK YOU to whoever you are where ever you may be.
