Woody garden thugs

Vicksburg, MS(Zone 8a)

First, let me explain that I probably have 1-1.5 acres in beds that I am actively gardening in and I work full time. Therefore, my first priority is to minimize maintenance in these beds. In spite of my best efforts, pulling weeds is a constant (and should be full time) battle. I have started to see patterns out of the chaos in the garden regarding the woodie weeds that I pull by the thousands. Out of the several thousand woodies on my property, here is a list of my 10 most promiscuous woodies in order of promiscuity:

1. Prunus virginiana - many thousands of seedlings (literally) from five trees
2. Quercus nigra - a few thousand or so seedlings
3. Parthenocissus quinquefolia - a thousand or so seedlings
4. Quercus rubra - a thousand or so seedlings
5. Myrica cerifera - hundreds of seedlings, a thousand or so suckers
6. Bignonia capreolata, hundreds of seedlings
7. Ulmus elata - hundreds of seedlings
8. Clerodenron trichotomum - hundreds of suckers
9. Juniperus virginiana - about a hundred or so seedlings
10. Albizia julibrissin - a hundred or so seedlings

Of course, the absolute numbers are very much dependent upon the breeding population, but I don't have any of the above species in disproportionately high or low numbers.

Does anyone notice a pattern here?

You are definately undergoing a determined reforestation program, due, no doubt, to global warming. ;>)
