I have had nothing but bad luck, trying to plant lilly-of-the-valley.I will order the plants, and have from noted growers, prepaired the beds,(in the shade),only to be disapointed. They will either not come up,or something will have "pulled" them up.Is their a certin "know how",that I'm missing,to the best of my memory,I have never grown L-O-T-V,and love the plant. Can some one give me what they do to have success, and what would pull them up,I have found some on the ground where I had planted them.Mike
when/how to plant lilly-of-the-valley
Mike, plant them now. They are just unfurling here and making buds. Mine are in part-sun, and have moist soil in summer, drier soil in winter. The soil is very well draining and rich. This is the only place I can currently get them to grow here. My friend has them in a more shady spot and they do Ok for her, but don't scent up quite as well as sun doesn't hit them.

Hummmm!I have been putting them in total shade.
