Ladyslippers are just starting to show their pips. I was out counting how many I could look forward to this year. Looks like it will be a very good year!

Here's a pic from last year.

Very nice! Cypripedium parviflorum? Pubescent?

Glen Cove, NY(Zone 7a)

Yep. I guess it's technically exactly that, C. parviflorum pubescent (the large yellow ladyslipper).

Here is C. parviflorum parviflorum (the small yellow ladyslipper)

You have all the cool plants! Both are beautiful.

Where do you grow them?

Glen Cove, NY(Zone 7a)

Well... I don't have them alllll..... yet!..... Mwaahahahaaa!

Some I grow in neutral to high ph pockets near my bog so they can wick water from that. Each one I set up a little "spot" for in my suburban backyard. I research each species individually and try to figure out what their requirements are. Some species people have already figured out a "recipe" for so I'll just do a riff on that. I also try and go see as many as I can in the wild, that helps figure out what they like but it's really just for fun... feeds the obsession.

Hmmm, little pockets in suburbia, eh? I am getting this visual... bear with me... this visual is of my property 5 years from now and I am seeing little pockets here there and everywhere.

Just FYI, it's pubescens, ladies!
