The ferns are starting to come up in NJ now. Soon we will have a real garden again...

AWSOME!!!

Wow, they don't take their time do they? It looks a lot like the Southern Wood fern I put in last Monday. Is that a Thelypteris species? You should see the rhizomes that my aunt divided up for me - 14 thick long roots. They had started sending up fronds, but they died back because of the transplanting. I planted them around the two tree clusters in my shade garden. Now I just have to wait patiently for them to bounce back.

These are cinnamon ferns.

Nice. I saw a pot of those at Walmart yesterday I just read that they get 5 feet tall. Wow!

Well.. maybe in some areas and if given unlimited water during hot summers, but in my area they seldom get to be taller than 3-3.5 feet. They are very nice and lush, however.
