Fantastic! It's exciting when Clematis break dormancy and finally start sending those green vines upward. We look forward to see Jackmanii in full bloom in a couple of months!

I need to buy more clematis. They're very hardy here and are so pretty! I've got lots of places I could stick them. I swear my place will be a midwestern jungle before I'm done...LOL

Does your Jackmanii bloom on old wood?? I have a Henri and just have no luck with Jackmanii....

I believe it's blooming on new growth. I hardly ever cut it back though. I figure if it's not in the way, why bother it. It's been fine for me :) I do cut it when it gets out of hand...

This is summer 2002. I've still not cut it back hard.

hczone6...........makes no difference....guy gal, I am still gonna come to Ohio and raid your garden....all kidding aside.....I have noticed that clemitis grows beautiful in Ohio and Indiana. My daughter lives in Batesville, not too far from you, and so many people have them growing on their mail boxes.....

Yep...I see lots of them around here. I need more myself. I have Nelly Moser, Ms Bateman, Jackmanii...I think that's it. They all do very well.
