I am in a quandary.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have a plant that has a tag that calls it Plectranthus coleoides 'Variegata.' It has very thick leaves.

I found this plant mentioned online under that name in a few places. Example:
http://www.provenwinners.com/plants/detail.cfm?photoID=6163&doSearch=1&searchGenus=Plectranthus&

But there is a similar one listed under another namein the PFs. I believe but am not sure this one though has thin leaves.

Do you think they are different? Should I start a new plant file under the name of Plectranthus coleoides 'Variegata?

Plectranthus madagascariensis 'Variegated Mintleaf' is the current name for Plectranthus coleoides 'Variegatus' and the entry is here http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2670/live_view/

THANKS Baa. Would you tell me how you found that? I even did a search on just Plectranthus coleoides and your find actually came up as the last one of a long list of Plectranthus, most of which did not have even coleoides in the name or alternate names. I must be doing something wrong. Sometimes I have to read thru so many entries, I give up! I always use the general search for I find it much easier but perhaps it is not as accurate?

THANKS AGAIN!

My pleasure.

The Advanced Search is better for exact results, http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=plectranthus&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=coleoides&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search

Neither search would have helped prior to this morning though because I updated the Plectranthus madagascariensis 'Variegated Mintleaf' with the correct cultivar name and add the P. coleoides 'Variegatus' as a synonym after I read your thread. I was unaware of any changes required until this morning so it wouldn't have appeared on either search.

Thanks. And thanks for telling me you changed things. I was thinking I was more senile than I usually am. Which would mean I should just turn myself over to the nearest nursing home ASAP and put myself out of my misery.
