Canna in detail for those who like knowing more...

The following link came from a nice lady on another board I belong to.
It's a great source of information for those who like to know all the
little ditties about their flowers.

Ah yes I have seen and read this article a few times. It seems the writer is a bit upset with the hybridization of cannas as it can make them sterile or creates mutations. I am sure you know I am not a purist at the least. I enjoy species and I think they should always be protected and kept. But I don't think many of us would be growing them if they were all just species. It is the hybrids were you get the bright colors and amazing flowers. Their is a huge divide in the plant world that some people run into when you collect and grow enough plants. That is you find purist and botanist both who are only interested in species. Then you have hobbiest collectors and the marketing nurseries all of who are manly interested in colorful hybrids.

Yeah, I don't read too much into the opinion section, I just
enjoy the informative pieces.

My interest in species actually relates more to Daylilies, but
I found his article worth passing on.

:-)
