Violets

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

I have grown these for over 40 years. My grandmother gave me the first ones that she got out of the woods when she was out fishing..She never came home without a plant.. They can become invasive, but they are so pretty..

I grow those too, they make a great shade groundcover.
I'm not sure of their latin name though....But they're very nice.

I would say most likely Viola sororia, common blue violet. It could be marsh blue violet, Viola cucullata, but you'd have to pull apart the petals and look closely at the hairs near the base to tell the difference.

I just call mine violets, LOL! There are over 100 kinds of violets...and I decided life's too short to try to figure out which ones I got. I got white ones, yellow ones, purple ones and lavendar ones!
