Ponderosa Pine Problem

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

I percieved a problem in my ponderosa pine about 3 years ago. It paled in its peak (crown) and I projected that it was possibly a problem with the packing of the plants roots. But it now has produced a poor piece of pine that I placed my chain saw and plumeted to the planet. Seriously what is the disease on the crown? It looks fungal. No other trees look as this one does.
I have burned all of the foilage should I burn the trunk? I would like to use it for a "banya" (cordwood sauna) I'm building.

Are there bark beetles in your area?

Yes but I know that one. None in this tree. I cut down a healthy one and that fungal thing is not on it. yes the ball of sap is but not the white at the needle base.

Culture it and send it to the lab to see what colonizes?
