Just found my six year old and very large lespedeza on its side. Upon inspection, I found that voles had eaten clean through the very substantial woody crown! These critters don't get half the respect they deserve for destruction.

Voles
Scott, you need to be renting Quercus and buying a stought chain so he doesn't bolt for the house and get into your wine supply. Local nursery when they laydown the BB in the fall and cover with straw take a bunch of disposible coffee cups with lids, fill 1/4 full with decon, and punch out the little suckey hole as a entrance and exit and put them down before the straw. Easy clean up. Ken
You have a six year old and a Lespedza lying on the ground?
Nice catch,Levil, I missed that one.
I did look around to see what winter vole damage I had. I do put up hardware cloth on their obvious favorites, but did not on my dropmore honeysuckle that they chewed on pretty good. It wasn't girdled though - and would probably regrow if it was.
