I am planning a new garden and I need 20 yards of compost and 20 yards of screened topsoil. The quote I received is $30/yard + delivery which comes to about $1500.
Does anyone have better pricing and source? I live in North Branford/Guilford, Ct area.
compost & screened topsoil
Kathie, it sounds a little less than I paid but the delivry fee sounds a little more. Where did you get prices from?
Dave
Dave, The quote was from van wilgens. I know they have good product so I think I'll use them. The delivery fee is $50. a load and they carry 6 yards at a time. That means I'll need 7 truckloads.
I was surprised that the screened loam was the same price per yard as compost.
At least you won't have to worry with them. I've seen a sign in front of someone's home in Guilford that, as I remember was cheap. But, I can't remember where I saw it (Rte. 1?). But then you never know what you are getting. If I find the sign, I'll get back to you.
