This is my wisteria. The former owners planted it but didn't do anything with it after that. Do I cut it back to just one main vine? Can I leave it as it is? I don't really have anything for it to grow on right now so I am willing to leave it be for a while.
Please ignore the brambles running through it.
Wisteria
You can leave it as it is if you have the room. Otherwise, cut it back in August to the LAST SIXTH node. If it blooms this spring, I wouldn't TOUCH IT!
You wouldn't touch it now, in August or ever? The only thing I know about these is that they can take a looonnng time to bloom.
As I said, it depends on how much room you can spare for it to sprawl/climb AND whether it blooms this spring or not. If you have LOTS of room, let it grow - no need to prune. If you have limited space, you can trim/prune it, BUT ONLY back to the SIXTH set of leaves from the trunk.
