Aren't they just beautiful when they start to break through - I love that red tone some of them have.

Oh, how exciting! I just love the anticipation of the first 'break-throughs'!

Just did a walk through of the gardens. The Madonna Lilies are up about 4". Tried to cover them up with leaves. I was really surprised to see them, but they do get planted very shallow. Come to think of it, they were early last year too, but if I recall, our weather was much nicer then than it has been this year. Also found my wild strawberries running to beat the band and another daylily looking all distorted under the mulch. Dwarf Iris are also trying to peek through the mulch. Everywhere else I peeked, nothing but beautiful black dirt; as it should be. Suppose to be 53 and sunny on Saturday. Time to dig the new lily bed. Should be dry there.
