Bringing Live Ivy Inside

I am thinking of bringing in lots of cuttings of fresh ivy from my yard and using them in center pieces for a dinner theater. They would be placed on 28 tables. My concern is the possibility of insects on them. We have had such warm weather I am sure they (the insects) have already arrived. What can I do or spray on the cuttings to insure nothing will crawl out?
