I am not a pro, but I am not new to planting from seed. It seems not to matter how old I get, or how many years go by that I start growing my plants from seed. As soon as the seeds are sown, I become a crazed loon, and I can't tell you how many times I catch myself looking at trays full my hopes and dreams for the season, even just five to ten minutes after putting on the lids. Am I mad? Have I lost it? My staring at the trays on the day they are planted are not going to help them grow, not as far as I know...
and talk about a watched pot. I have other things I need to get to, I have a house to run, kids to see to, and many other things on my list. So why is it that I feel the need to look even now? Perhaps I'm affraid I will miss their arrival? Anyway, I was wondering if any of you take on this odd behavior around this time of year?
I so hope its not just me.......
.........now, for at least the tenth time today.......I'm going to repeat the trend of the day and go stare at my trays...............
: )
Dena
Do any of you do this silly thing?
rotflo
don't laugh at me Al.
**catching breath**
No - I understand what you are saying, but it sure sounds funny to hear it.
I think we all have some gardening OCD from time to time.
looking for something funnier - this will do

Al, are you admitting to some form of gardening OCD?
Well let me see.....I guess all I have close is I will dig up my canna and dahlia tubers quite often if they are not coming up to make sure they are growing and not dead.
LOL! I think that qualifies! : )~
OMG!!! I did that Al!!!! Dena - why would you make us admit to this??? Why??? I take pictures of the growth and use the zoom just to look at everything closer [I don't have a magnifying lens]
I'm so sorry Anita, I guess I just need to know I'm not alone...
yeah, yeah...I bet you made it up so that the rest of us would admit to it. Kinda like the principal saying the person guilty step forward...and you step back....
you do know that I'm kidding...right?
; )
Oh sorry poster - I don't think I answered your question before
Am I mad? Have I lost it?
yes and maybe
Al, just because you learned how to "quote" doesn't mean you should...
: )~
Quoted:
Am I mad? Have I lost it?
yes and maybe
Maybe????
Here's another crazy thing: I didn't want to leave my newly planted poblano and habanero pepper seeds alone for the weekend...so I packed them up in a box and took them with me on my visit to my mother in law's house!
And I am checking them about every 3 hours for new sprouts!
I feel better now...
me to!
I can't believe Anita is so mean to her babies and leaves them outside all night!

oh, i'm so glad to hear you do that too...this is the first year i'm trying to start seeds, and i'm the same way!! the basil has started to sprout (thank goodness!), but nothing else, and so i'm despondent, panicked, and yes, slightly obsessed...i'm afraid i got overzealous at the start and made the potting mix (i'm using those pellet thingies) too soggy. oh heavens! what have i done?!? this is supposed to be easy, right???
LOL...I do the same thing!
Kzorgo, You have been busy! Looks good.
LOL!
I'm so glad to find out I'm not as alone in my oddities as I thought I was...
Thanks so much for coming forward with your secrets!
: )
Dena
Pirl - your plants still need a nightlight?
My porch was cooling down fast last night so I had to put a heater out by my babies.
OMG! Pirl, I would have my grill plastered to those babies all day every day! LOL!
I can't wait to see pics of the gardens in bloom this year!!
I'm starting to feel like I have to go to Pirls house and watch her seed trays...
wow, this is reallly bad! LOL!
How cute!
Thanks. He is a cutie and an excellent guard dog and companion as well as lots of fun. We found him at a rescue shelter!
Give that cutie a kiss for me! Then run and look at all the seed trays...
What do you have growing in them? Anything poking up yet?
I have some Globe Thistle and Little Blue Stem that are doing reallllly well,
good weather better get here soon, I need to get homes ready for them or I'll have to repot first and then plant out later!
I can't wait for a nice warm sunny day.
Here are a few of the 89 hybridized (by others, for once) daylily seeds. We've done our share and have 1,364 of ours growing* along with those received in trades and hundreds of purchased ones dating back as far as '93.
*Edited to say that we began in '98 and do very few anymore.
But we have other things growing downstairs . . . . .
