Night Phlox - Zaluzianskya 'Midnight Candy'

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Has anyone ever grown this before? I've bought seeds last year and trade some but never started any. I just bought more at our Rona's for $2.99 for 250 seeds.
If anyone has any tips on growing these would be greatly appreciated.

I gerw these a few years ago. I started them in a regular seed flat & transplanted into a small tub when they got big enough. Transplant carefully - these probably prefer being direct sown. Anyway, I put the tub in the greenhouse next to my transplant bench & they bloomed all spring & into summer. I let them go to seed, which I collected. Once it got really hot they just wanted to "end it all", LOL!

*VERY* fragrant - a sweet rather than spicy aroma. I seem to remember them opening up & being most fragrant in evening/at night. Backs of star-shaped blooms were a purple-pink shade.

Fast sprouting (within a week?); easy to grow. Got pretty leggy but I pinched them back & they branched out nicely. Got about 10-12 inches tall.

Rather cute but not at all showy - grow for fragrance & beside something with a little more pizzazz/daytime appeal.

Hope that helps! I will definitely grow them again.

Thanks, hillfarm. When ever someone is looking for seeds that usual are looking for these. So pinching back does slow them down for blooming.
