dinner plate hybiscus

I have a dinner plate hybiscus "pod" in an envelope that someone gave me. I know that they remain outside once you plant them...... But could someone tell me how to start it now? Do I OPEN the brown pod or is that a bulb? Help!

yes the seeds are in the pods-i soak them for a few days then plant and wait!!

Jacklynn, Check out this thread explaining a method that takes only a week to germinate vs 4-6 weeks it can sometimes take.
