Does anyone have any experience growing native wisteria? I have had the Chinese wisteria and it run rampant so I had to get rid of it. I have read that the native kind is a lot better behaved.
Native Wisteria
I have two Wisteria frutescens straight species on an arbor in front of my front door. I also have Wisteria frutescens 'Aunt Dee' that I picked up last year very late in the season that may or may not make it this year because of the severe drought we had last year. Nice plants and they don't get out of control like their Chinese cousins. Their flowers are every bit as delicate as Wisteria sinensis and W. sinensis cultivars.
I have seen 'Amethyst Falls' heavily advertised. I may have to give it a try. I just built a new shed and was thinking about training a vine to grow up the side wall of it.
I think you will be very pleased.
