Events and Shows

I'd like to start this thread to keep a running log of Mid-Atlantic shows and events. Feel free to post events and shows in your area. If we could keep this thread going with ONLY the event and show info that would be great. Start another thread with the event title if you would like to get interested people together to meet there. I will ask one of the administrators if we could keep this thread on top as a [sticky] thread.

Please jump in to post events and shows that are in your area even if you think there may not be any interest.

I just noticed that there is a DG Calendar of Events Forum http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/dgevents/all/ but didn't see one for the Mid-Atlantic area on the list. I have volunteered to get one started in this particular forum for us. Until we can get it going full swing post some of your events here until we can get them transfered over to the right forum! I will still plan on posting on this forum if I want to get a group of interested people together for any event in my area!

I had added events last year on the Calendar of Events but I don't think many people were visiting that forum and you're right, there was no specific entry for the Mid-Atlantic.

I'll start off with a small list of the events we attend each year - this was posted on another thread, but will post it again:

Green Spring Gardens Park, Alexandria
Market Days, Saturdays (April 8th through May 13th) 9:00-1:00
Small farmer's market atmosphere with 10-15 vendors

Thurs (AHS members only), Fri and Sat - general public (April 20-April 22)
50+/- vendors who braved miserable rain for three days last year are hoping for better weather this year!

Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, Richmond
Thurs thru Sat (May 4-6) 50+ vendors!
This sale is typically held the third weekend in April but is a little later than usual this year because of Easter weekend. They're extending the hours on Thursday until 8:00 to enable customers who work until 5:00 to shop during the evening!

Blandy Experimental Station (State Arboretum of Virginia), Boyce (near Winchester)
Mother's Day weekend, Sat-Sun, May 13 &14. (Members of the Arboretum are able to attend a preview sale on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:30)
This show has experienced some lousy weather in prior years, but last year's gorgeous weather prompted an estimated 16,000 visitors over the weekend!

A smaller show, only in its fifth year but gaining momentum!

Where is the MD Home and Flower Show?

The MD Home and Flower Show is held each year at the MD Fairgrounds in Timonium. Half the cow palace is devoted to landscapers setting up lovely garden displays and the other half is remodling home projects, home appliances, etc.

It is alot of fun great Displays indeed Shirley my brother actually won best in show back in '98.

I am going to the Philadelphia Flower show on this Saturday...will report back.
