I live in Omaha, Nebraska, zone 4b and have a very large pergola in mostly sun to cover. We love to sit on the patio underneath so something with low or few flowers would probably prove best. Any suggestion would be very welcome! Thank you in advance.

Brushwood Nursery has some lovely Clematis. You might take a look there. Not too expensive and shipping is free.
How about Lonicera Sempervirens (trumpet honeysuckle). It's semi evergreen in your climate, I believe. If you want fewer flowers, you can choose Clematis Armandii (evergreen clematis).
