Water fuschia (Impatiens?) propagation

I am the plant sitter for three pots of water fuschias while their owner is away on holiday. They look great and my sister in law told me to just take some stems off and get them rooted in a glass of water. I did this and checked them after a couple of days and find that the stems have curled up into a semi circle!! Has anyone else propagated these by this method? I was wondering if I put a little bit of rooting hormone in the water would this be a clever thing to do?

You might have better luck asking in the Propagation Forum. I read recently that roots grown in water tend to be brittle and the more recommended method is directly in whatever soil or materials are used for root propagation.

Thansk Beaker, you are right, the propogation forum would be better. I will try popping some straight into the ground though as you suggest.
