Trivia Question

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

This came from my husbands Maine Sportsman Magazine and I thought it was really interesting. The Question is

Which weighs more - An American Bald Eagle or a Turkey Vulture?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

turkey vulture??

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

Bald Eagle

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I'm with them, lol

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I'll admit my answer was the turkey vulture. Here's the answer

The size of a turkey vulture is deceptive. The wingspan stretches over five-and-a-half feet - 67 inches to be exact on an average specimen, but they weigh a mere 4 pounds and measure 26 inches long. An average bald eagle has an 80 inch wingspan - imagine nearly 7 feet! This magnificent symbol of this country tips the scales at nine-and-a-half pounds and is 31 inches long. In short, the eagle is nearly two-and-a-half times heavier than a turkey vulture.

A friend of mine would absolutely not believe the turkey vulture only weights 4 pounds
