Natto mame

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Here is a picture of my seedling. The seed itself is about 1 inch long and is a deep pink color. Does anyone know anything about or has grown it? I did a google and I'm picking up that its like a soybean. I thought soybeans were a different color and didn't vine.

Looks like a bean of some type - did you plant hyacinth bean or runner bean seeds?

We had a lecture at school about soybeans and natto is one very special kind used for some kind of japanese fermented meal. Actually the bean itself is very delicate and smaller than a regula soya bean. I do not know about the plant itself, but I am growing another kind of soybean "edamame" which is eaten still green, steamed and very delicious. This last one has velvety leaves.

Thanks for the great info, Zarcanat. Here is a picture of what the seed looks like. As you can see from the picture it is 1 inch long.

I guess that they could be two different things, if I find something else, I will let you know!
