If you were building your kitchen from scratch :)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

We're building our new home. Also acting as our own general contractors to save $$ :) The design is done, but what to do about cabinetry?? We'll save enough through acting as "GC" so that we can afford the cherry cabinets we've always wanted. But.....white kitchens are all the rage these days; the cabinet guy keeps telling us that over time, they get dinged and such, then we'll have to re-paint. He'll do the work either way and will make just as much money as we've come to agreement on a fee basis. So, not worried that he's just telling us that.

If price wasn't an issue, would you do re-paintable cabinetry or a stained hardwood?

Thanks :) Oh yea, gonna have a lot more questions......
