Computer Paint program question

I have been playing with my paint program to make a diagram of my gardens. I have saved it in my documents file for now.
My question is this...how would I keep the original diagram and also make another copy of it to add other things as I want them? If I play with the original diagram and make a mistake or 2, I would have to redo the whole diagram and it took me so long to create it.
