Looking for a vine.
Any one with suggestions?
I need a vine that will attach to a brinc wall, along the freeway in San Diego, California.
This will be semi costal......
Thanks,
I need to purchase this week, and I am drawing blanks....
Anything but the usual fig... : )
Help! Looking for a vine
hiya jtspeaks,
great to see you!
What about these?
Ficus repens........nasty attachment
Parthenocissus tricuspidata
Clytostoma callistigiodes.......tendrils
Distictus buccinatoria............tendrils
Pyrostegia ventusa................tendrils
Check with Mark, I also think there are a few Passifloras who's tendrils will grip to walls.
Hope to see you again in July at the RU...
best,
don
Good to see you as well....
Had a very rough year last year, but things are finally coming back to normal.
Thanks for the ideas, I think I am going with the Distictus.
Bigononia Cherere and Riversii....
I don't want to have problems with some of the others not clinging well. The Wall is about 200 ft long and 12 feet high, so I think the trumpets will do fine....
Say hello to the wife, and yes July will be great.....
hiya JT,
Distictus, Phaedranthus, Bignonia....lol. The Blood Red or the riversii will be great, and their tendrils cling nicely to walls, especially brick and block as the tendrils find their way into the pores of the brick, block and mortar without harming them.
best to you and both Pam and I look forward to seeing you here for the RU.
don
what is a brinc wall just out of curiosity?
Mark
Dang English Ivy will attach to anything and everything.
Lavina
Well thanks all,
that should have been brick wall : )
I went with the Riversii, 65 of them in 5 gallon pots. They should cling very nicely, as long as we can keep the "taggers" from breaking them up before they have a chance to attach themselves.......
Thanks again
