I've noticed Blue J Iris and Riverview Iris Gardens websites are updated for 2006. Are there others?
Iris Websites up for 2006
Those are the only 2 I've noticed so far. Denise from Snowpeak Iris and Daylilies will have her site up before the end of the month.
iris city gardens, website is updated.
Just be sure to read the watchdog on the first two before you order. You'll be glad that you did.
i emailed blue j iris about the packing the rhizomes in straw. i received an email from sheri "to answer your question: we are seriously reconsidering the straw issue. if the was just messy, it would not be so bad. originally we thought straw absorbs the moisture (away from the rhizomes), but now from experience, it appears that it might be absorbing the moisture and holding it in the box. we are looking into the costs of excelsior, yet we are worried about the final costs that would carried over to the customer. shredded paper is another easy option, but i think the absorbing and holding issue might be the same as the straw. i can, however, promise you that we do have some excelsior available each year, and if you somehow indicate on your order that you would like excelsior instead of straw, we would be to accommodate you! i was pleased with my order from last year except for the straw. i placed another this winter.

I've placed one order with Riverview (in 2004) and one with BlueJ (2005). Am very happy with both companies. Riverview iris adapted better to the climate here than most iris from the west, and I believe almost all of theirs bloomed the first year (with one misfill, which they i.d.ed for me)
I've had serious problems with misfills (over 20% of one order) from Nicholson's Woodland Iris Garden (I placed three orders in all and had misfills in each order). They used to be helpful with trying to id the misfills, but last year they never responded to pictures sent snail mail and by e-mail. I didn't even want replacements, just help with id's. I can deal with misfills, but not lack of customer service.
There are a great group of downright great growers out there with better ratings, service and plants than these two. I'm trying to be positive here. Iris City Gardens is really good though.
You'll find this thread from last year very interesting I think
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/480673/
Margie was a great resource last year and I think that this thread is just a great resource. Maybe we should just bump it. That's not such a bad idea.
I really encourage you to find out who else is out there before you order and this list from last year will help a lot. Just one caveat - Margie starts with Impressive Iris and they are in Australia. It's kind of hard to import from there, although not impossible, but their website it really fun.
Enjoy.
I am hoping to vist Iris City Gardens at bloomtime this year! Could you please add links for the gardens mentioned above?
Thanks,
Teresa

Keith Keppel's catalog is out. His email is
plicataman@earthlink.net
I couldn't find a cost for the catalog so if someone writes would you let us know?
He doesn't have a website so you have to get the catalog. Photos of this and last year's intros only and he's focusing on selling his own creations along with those of Blyth, . He is also selling two Barry Blyth intros. Intros from several years ago are quite reasonable. He also has Cayeux and Grosvenor and other Blyth folk's cultivars. Sort of an international group.
Mountain View Iris is up.

How nice that Fred Kerr has a Barry Blyth page. About time for someone to do it!
HI Doss,
I agree! :-) The Blyth iris that catches my eye (on that website) is STOP FLIRTING. Lovely - - great form! It's on my list! :-)
~ Margie
Isn't it amazing that something like "Stop Flirting" can come from a cross with "Louisa's Song"? Now that's a miracle!
I have 'Stop Flirting' in my garden. It's really different, and I love the wide form and ruffles. I believe Mid-America is carrying that one this year. Here's a picture of it:

Stoney Creek Iris has opened today. Looks like they've redone things on their website. Added free shipping on orders over $10.

Here is an amended site for Stoney creek Iris.
www.stoneycreekiris.com/ It's free shipping across the board, now, too.
Thanks Mitt.
I just checked out her website. It's well done and easy to navigate. It looks like she also has some nice irises that other sites don't have.....................and at decent, reasonable prices. Glad to see it up. :-)
