I hear you shouldn't harvest your rhubarb the first year. Is this true?

Yes, it's true, you should let them develop a strong root system the first year and only pick a few stalks the second year, depending on how they do.

I planted rhubarb begining of last summer (thinking back to childhood days of munchin on some rhubarb dunked in sugar that we got out of moms garden)and I had to have it. by the end of summer it was huge with tons of stalks, it almost killed me to leave it alone.
So what your saying is that if it looks that way this coming season I might have a taste?!?!
