"The sun is shining!
Oh happy day!
No more troubles,
and skies of gray.
The sun is shining!
Oh oh oh Happy Day!"
Hello all! Just having a break after feeding 4 kids, 2 cats and 1 DH....somehow I didn't eat yet though, lol. This is MY half hour to DG and then it's back to tending the brood.
mg, um, did something good happen to you last night.....you seem super happy, lol.
Erynne
Don't know how I missed the new thread! Wondered where everyone has been all day.
Here's the message I posted on thread #5:
Kylee,
Send someone to the store to get you Stash's Chai (Tea); on the side panel there is a recipe for Indian Chai - it includes milk and sugar. But instead of following that recipe, use this one: 7 cups cold water, one cup 1/2 and 1/2, half cup sugar, six tea bags. Put all in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until it is a nice mocha color (not too dark).

So, are we doing a Round Up or not?

Jody, you have D-mail.
Hi everybody! Did you get a glimpse at that SUNSHINE today??? I remember looking out the kitchen window thinking, "hmmm, it looks good out there." THEN I realized that the SUN was shining...and it FELT so good just to see shadows again. hehehe
Kelly, I think the shock of the shadows took my cold right out the door. I don't seem to have anything left of my sniffles and I didn't do a thing.
Kylee...I sure hope you're on the mend. And Stacey, Eric gets those sinus infections, and they're nasty. Hope you feel better, too.
Today, was another 'remodeling' day. This time DH is working on this room (where my computer and ALL my 'other than sewing stuff' is. He's putting in a window seat with lots of storage space in it. I want and need it...so I *have* to help when he wants it. :-)
OH! LOL ....and because it's a window seat, I get to make cushions for it. And you *know* that means I'll get my first project for the new sewing/embroidery machine...and THAT makes me happy! hehehe
Thanks for the congrats on the new toys, peoples...they're both going to be a lot fun for me.
Guess I'd better go see what other threads I have in my watched list.
Later,
~julie~
Thanks for the tip, Jody, but I'm not sure I could choke that down. I don't like coffee, tea, or any hot drink. :-( I'm still taking the Mucinex and it seems to be helping, although by the end of the day today, I thought my head was going to split wide open from the coughing. It didn't hurt when I wasn't coughing, but OMG when I was... I'm doing better now, and I hope I can stave this off through at least Monday. I have to work all day and it's kinda difficult with coughing. (I'm a dental hygienist.)
My mom, daughter and I went to a Bridal Spectacular today and had a great time. We also did some shopping, and I got two wonderful pottery pots for outside, at T.J. Maxx. Love the glaze on them! Great prices on them there. I saw a little bunny figure at Marshall's that I wish I'd gotten. It was only $5 and was life-size and I NEED it for the garden. Somewhere. LOL. I'll go back on Monday after work and hopefully it will still be there.
The cybister amaryllis 'La Paz' that I potted up on Tuesday night are growing already!! Wish I could say the same for my callas.
Is anyone else besides me just chomping at the bit for spring and the chance to get out in the garden every day again??
Kylee
Stacy - DH will be doing a seminar at the Garden Expo. They just asked him if he would join "Ask The Experts" (Sunday - 1:00).
What seminars are you planning to take?
Jody
Edited to correct day and ask question. ;-)

I hadn't decided yet - I'm still going through the list. I Like the two "Gardening in the Shade With Continuous Seasonal Interest", "How to Plan a Landscape Project With a Professional Landscaper", "Creating Prairie Gardens and Meadows for Birds & Butterflies", "Gardening for Birds and Butterflies", "Native Wildflowers in the Home Landscape", "Using Native Plants to Attract Birds to Your Yard", "Fragrant Plants - Our Link Between Heaven and Earth", and a few others.
I planning on going on Saturday, and Skip is talking about coming up to meet me in the evening for dinner and an overnight for two.
Sinus infection seems to be a little better today, and it's nice enough that I may get some winter pruning done if I finish my house work.
"How to Plan a Landscape Project With a Professional Landscaper"
I didn't look at the schedule again, but I think Paul Ganshert is speaking at this seminar. He's a nice guy; I think you'll like him.
I'll check the schedule to see if I know any of the others.
Everyone needs to get well! Spring will be here in 71 (I think) days!!!
Jody
Which is your hubby teaching?
I have spring feaver something awful today.
Mike will be talking/answering questions regarding low voltage lighting. They usually have four "experts" there to answer questions from those attending the seminar.
For those of you within easy driving distance to Janesville:

Ooooh - that looks like fun, too!
Bumping this up....
Drdon has a cool idea to use the diary feature in journals to post tours of our gardens, and to have a forum supporting discussion of them. Several of us have started them, and so far this looks really cool.
Check out the thread at... http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/560061/
My tour (work in progress) http://davesgarden.com/journal/d/m/sstateham/
and Don's http://davesgarden.com/journal/d/m/drdon/
Stacey! That's a GREAT IDEA!! (I took a peek at yours and it look super! Love that shot from the satellite. Hmm....better go clean up my back yard. LOL)
~julie~
Stacey,
Nice job,,,,,Love the satellite pic!
Kelly
Ditto Julie and Kelly!
My diary seems to be missing. Hmmm.....
Jody
We stole it to copy,,,,LOL
Nothing good in there! Nan-er-nan-er!!! ;-D
Thanks! I borrowed it off google. You can't do a copy/paste on the web page, but I "accidentally" did an Alt-Print Screen, and then pasted into Paint as a bit map, then my photo editor to crop to what I wanted.
I've really had a blast doing the "tour". I'm working now on getting plant lists organized (for those of you involved in the database thing, now you know my reasoning). It'll take me forever because I've been disgustingly lazy about keeping clean records in the past. My current file is a folder that I've dumped receipts with notes on them. Serves me right. I'm looking forward to posting pics, though, come spring and summer when all my plants that I put in last year bloom their little hearts out. If they all survive, right?
Yippppeeee! We got a forum!
http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/seemygarden/all/
Stacey that forum is a fine addition to the DG lineup. Who knows, I might just have to start adding to my Journal beginning with the *empty* lot I started with 2 years ago and progress through the beds (in progress) as they grew thru last year. (Oh, my...I hope they're still there when I wake up from hibernation. hehehe)
~julie~
Stacy,
I saw in drdon's tour you mentioned looking for landscape lighting (either low voltage or solar). DH is answering questions about low voltage lighting at the Garden Expo during the "Ask the Experts" seminar.
Jody
I have my garden tour started: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/567703/
I'm going on a Garden Tour!!!!!
Hold on everyone! Only 68 more days until Spring!!!
I'm excited, but I'm already getting so busy I don't know when I'll be able to garden. I may have to give up my computer for a while!
I forgot to tell you all...last night my garden club had a hands-on workshop given by an herbal specialist. Here is a link to her website: http://www.fourelementsherbals.com/index.html

Very nice tour Jody,,,,wanna come over and make me a pond,,,huh???? wanna????huh???? Please,,,pretty please????
Kelly
Thanks, Kell.
Wish I could help with the pond building, but I'm running out of time already.
Jody
LOL,,,that's one of the things on my want list,,,,,one of these years,,,,,*sigh*
Kelly,
I received the emails you sent me. Thanks! I tried to send you an email, but my ISP must be fussy tonight - the email wouldn't go through.
Jody

My ISP must really be fussy tonight, because everything is taking forever and the same message just posted here twice.
Jody

Jody,
Glad you got them. Sometimes it's like that,,,,I can try to send a post here in DG and it takes forever,,,and I have cable,,,,,grrrr
Kelly
Jody - I saw the lighting lesson, and though about that. I keep putting lights on my to-do list, but somehow I end up spending my garden purse on plants. Hate it when that happens.
Kelly - if you do the Round Up at your house, maybe you can make everyone dig the hole for your pond while we're there (in between makeovers)
