Mom won't eat

My MIL is in early - mid stage AD. For the past two weeks she has not wanted to eat anything and is losing weight. One day she says she has diarrhea, the next she is constipated. I have not seen any signs of either. Is this part of AD? is it for attention? I am having her doctor schedule a endoscopy and colonscopy to see if there is a physical problem.
