Another computer crash :0(

DD called me from college....her laptop died...she has never backed up any files because computer wouldn't save her files to a cd or sandisk (?) for some reason. Now two of her major papers are gone....

She told me the computer has been giving her trouble for the last week...starting up, but then giving her some type of message that she had four or so different options on how to start it....now it won't start at all...she says it looks like it powers up cuz the on light goes on, but then it just keeps shutting off.

So helpless and so computer illiterate.

I don't even know where to have her take it since she's not here. She could take it to the Do-It tech center on campus but she doesn't have transportation.

Any suggestions...I know it could be a million things.....?
