From whom do you buy your tubers?

Aptos, CA

Just curious, from whom do you buy excellent stock from? I have had good luck with Dan' Dahlias in the past. I purchased 2 "Embrace" from Clack's Dahlias ( they both rotted ) but the "Spartacus" they sent me did fine. Some of Dan's tuber didn't make it either, I know it happens from time to time. I am looking for exhibition quality stock and varieties...I had luck with Birch Bay Dahlias as well...The catalogs are arriving...hurry up Spring!!

I don't know from 1st hand, but have heard Swan Island Dahlias are good. I have been to their actual fields where they are grown and it was so beautiful. Try them.
Tho you could just trade/postage from people here on DG too.

Sudhira, I've had tremendous quality from Connell's Dahlias and great service as well.

The senior Connell's who started it all have semi retired but still have select dahlias available. "Dahlias by Les and Viv" is their new name.

Many of the varieties are labelled as "show" or "exhibition quality" and they have new ones as well that no doubt meet their good eye for winning dahlias.

Some that I want are rather expensive ( but will that stop me????) Only time will tell.

Oh thanks Pooch...I am enjoying the Les & Viv site! I too am weak when it comes to purchasing those sweet tubers...

Sudhira, I forgot to ask : your pink bouquet on this post is delightful. Such color! If you open it to a big photo, looking just under the hira of your name- who is that darker pink, swirled with lighter pink beauty nestled in there? It's intriguing me!

'G day Pooch,

That is " CG Regal" created by my mentors Kevin Larkin & Karen Zydner...The are Corralitos Gardens and sell cuttings instead of tubers...

Oh My, Oh MY! CG Regal hmmmm. You have pretty good mentors I'd say if they created that beauty. I've been to their website many times. And will probably revisit it real soon LOL
Thanks!

I have to tell you all that this was the first year I grew CG Regal...it is very different in the petal shape, they are somewhat cupped...CG Gardens will be having a new catalog on or about 12/15 www.cgdahlias.com As you know with the cuttings, there is not wait for the lil sprout to appear from the soil ( although a pasrt of me likes that part )...fun fun

Kevin & karen are very kind and offer toal guarantee for their plants.

I will be at their ranch this weekend with the rest of the Monterey Bay Dahlia Society for the root dig! Hope it doesn't rain!!!
