Welcome to the thread Andy P. Nice to know what's going on up in that part of the country. Kelli, what a beautiful sunset in Pismo, where I plan to be the last week of this month w/ DD and 2 grandsons.

Fairly pleasant day today w/intermittent sunshine and overcast. A little frost in the early AM, but certainly nothing to complain about, unlike some of you with REALLY cold weather. Take care and stay bundled up in those down comforters and coats and wooly socks!!

sugarweed.............can you send some sun to me. Its starting to get really depressing here since we only have 4 days of sunlight in 5 weeks now. Even my indoor plants start to cave in for the lack of sun. :0(

t80,
Well, by-gum if I could I would. You might try getting 2 of those 500watts construction Quartz Lamps on a tripod and burning them for 3 hours every morning. They will really heat-up the room too. They most likely make them for your electrical system too. Or a cooler solution would be a Bright light made just for treating depression from lack of Sunlight.

Wow! wha' happen while I was busy with family company since T-Day.? Nice really nice coat Kimberly,.good choice. Considering what's happening in your neck of the woods today. I thought it was cold here yesterday... til I got up this morning.

here in high desert country it was just below 0* at 7:30 this morning.
It has crept all the way up to 24* at 1:20
Humidity is at a comfortable 26%, with a DP of 2* there was only a slight sign of frost. Not enuff moisture to really make any. But DANG that is cold for here. Lilypon at least I can say ''but it's a dry cold''. LOL

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Well, the rain did not show, instead it turned 59F this afternoon, so I planted more bulbs in the Sun!!! Now I feel much better for getting it done, lol,

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

woohoo, heat wave for hanna, lol

its 26 right now, expecting between 3-8 inches of snow tonight. just heard on the news that the kids may be out of school tomorrow?? whats all that about?

Millersburg, PA(Zone 6b)

MSJen - that means you have a 'cookie day'. When the roads are not safe to transport the children, they close the school - you can usually catch what is closed and what is not on the early morning TV news.

Kids get to stay home and play in the snow or make cookies. LOL "Snow days" are usually tacked on to the end of school year so all get their 180 or so days of schooling.

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Kids day home, how fun! Yes it was a beautiful afternoon, I also planted up a bunch of Stapelias that just came in from Shoal Creek, and in my little greenhouse for safekeeping for the winter, LOL, kinda like squirrels!!
55F right now, expecting 43F later tonight and slight chance of rain.

Hey sugarweed - this may be a dumb question - but how do you make a degree symbol with your keyboard?

Alexandria, IN(Zone 6a)

Six inches of snow and about 20°F or so....Winter surely will be better.

Hope sugarweed doesn't mind, Steve. Hold the ALT key down while typing in 0176 on the far right end of the keyboard.

Are there other "tricks" like this?

Thanks Indy!! :-)

I was going to ask about the degree symbol too! I have an older IBM ThinkPad laptop with numbers only along the top of the keyboard. That tip doesn't seem to work for me.
Oh Well.
It started snowing about sunrise today and accumulated to 3 or 4 inches then changed to rain. I hear sleet on the skylights now so it may turn back to snow soon, as predicted.
It's 34F, light winds out of the east.
I had a pretty photo op earlier with 2 Cardinals in a Cedar tree just outside the kitchen door. I just couldn't get a clear shot, what a shame. I was within 6 or 7 feet of them.
Farther inland, snow amounts are almost a foot.

Taylor Creek, FL(Zone 10a)

Take the spaces out of this; & # 186. See if that works.
Sidney

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Sugar, I just get a ding, ding when I hold ALT down and type anything.
Well the weather sure can change fast. That bit of sleet has turned into a torrent now, mixing with snow. The temp has fallen to 29F make that 28 and the wind is gusting out of the NNW at 35 MPH. All is white again.
And I wanted to clear the slush off the car, ha, ha. I'm not going out in this.
WOW, THUNDER!!!! LIGHTNING!!! Poor Sidekick Sarah, she hates when that happens.
Andy P

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Make that Gusts to 40 MPH, and lots of lightning and thunder.
Gotta go.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi, Sidney, Indy, et al. . . ..You can find such shortcuts in MSWord. . .Click on Insert at top of page and select Symbol. . .Choose one and the shortcut is shown at the bottom of that window.

Stay warm,

Corky Baird in Benbrook, TX

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Hold on tight, Andy (and Sarah)!

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

It's dry and windy again, but not enough to merit an advisory. I make such a fuss about rain because if we don't get it between now and March, we aren't going to get it until the next winter.

Amazing, 61F and beautiful here! Keep warm you guys!!!!!
I'm going South to Orange County for a couple of days next week, picking up my Grandkids by myself, I'm so nervous about the the weather at theGrapevine since a couple of years ago we got caught in a very bad storm, was snowing sideways, frozen, could not see where the road ended, etc, just us and this trucker, they closed the highway behind us, forgot us I suppose, I was driving, shaking all the way, amazed I made it thru!!!!

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I don't think you'll have anything to worry about this time.
