plum pollination

Atmore, AL(Zone 8b)

Does anyone know if flowering cherry trees can pollinate plum trees or vice versa? It's confusing because they're both considered "prunus".

I can't tell you for certain "no", but the fruit tree catalogs I have give pollinating partners needed for specific trees, and they do not indicate that cross-pollination is possible.

Missed this, the answer to your question is no.

If the chromosome numbers match, the longer flower should pollinate the shorter, assuming they bloom at the same time.
16 to 32 probably would not work, if it did the offspring (24) would be sterile
