Question on feeding pigs soured corn

Someone told us that if we sour our corn, (let it soak) in water till it swells up, the pigs would get fatter faster? Grow faster? I guess. Is this true. Do you use soaked corn to feed your pigs. If so, how do you soak it in the winter time, I've had some soaking in water for 7 to 8 days now in 5 gal buckets and it's still not soft , sour or anything.
