spacing stencil letters

have stencil letters but if I use them the way they are spaced then the letters are too far apart and there is too much af chance of slanting them. Does anyone have any hints on how to do this and keep the letters evenly spaced? I have done few crafts in my life so I don't know a lot of tricks.
