They ARE pretty!
I think all the merremia pods are pretty. I've seen the merremia tuberosa pods for sale at the floral section of the craft stores...always thought If I couldn't locate seeds, I would just buy some "decorative" pods at the craft store, lol...

I've started lotus (Nelumbo) from pods in the floral department where I worked. (Don't tell anyone, but I just carefully picked out a seed. But, I don't advise this sort of theft, tho', I merely confess my crime.)

In a good shop, you can find some hard to get oddities and tropicals!
