Another problem with Laptop, and Norton

I'm just facing a few minor bumps in the road, trying to get them all flattened out. I have Norton 2005 and I had to disable it, because when it updated it wouldn't let me check my mail on outlook express any longer. I would really like to have it turned back on, so my emails outgoing and in going are still protected. How can I do this, if it won't let me retrieve my mail when I turn this back on?

I have windows xp, outlook express and norton 2005 with firewall, and it looks like Mcafee has a firewall there too, cause a little window comes up every time I turn the computer on and says your computer is now protected with mcafee firewall. Haven't figured out how all the ups and downs there though.j
